Anyone know the specs on the upcoming '05 Bianchi Axis? Any changes to the frame, geometry, or components?

well i just put an order in for one and according to bianchi the only changes are pedals and tires and paint, pedals are vp instead of wtb and tires are irc mythos slicks(they're knobbies not slicks...irc must have just wanted to make it confusing) instead of the kenda's.didn't get any word on color scheme. everything else is supposed to be the same thankfully. btw i'm 5'10 and fit a 55cm .

I was just asking because I'm waiting for my '04 to come in (maybe Monday). I'm 5'6" and am waiting for a 49cm. The 49cm is very slightly different than the larger sizes as it lacks the third bottle mount and the cable routing for the rear brake is a little different

I am also thinking of getting the Axis. I'm about 5' 8.5", do you think the 55 would be too large? I think the 52 might be a better fit. I wasn't able to try one out in person.

i didn't have a chance to sit on one either unfortunately, but my bike shop set up their fit kit with the axis geometrys and a 55 it was. the person who fit me had also owned an axis and he was about your height and i believe he said he was a 52. try to get on a fit kit somewhere and have them set it up with the geometry from the catalog.

Thanks for the info. Did your LBS say how long it would take to get the bike in, also is the MSRP on the '05 still $1299.00? Thanks again.

I've posted about this before, but from my recent experience if you're fit for a 54/55cm road bike you should go with a 52cm cyclocross bike - one size down. I normally ride a 52cm road bike and the 52cm Axis was way too big. I'm 5'6" with a 30.5in inseam (for bike-fitting purposes) and have ordered a 49cm. These bikes run larger than you would guess, because the BB is higher up on a rode bike. Good luck!

delivery is supposed to be two weeks, i'm giving em 2-4 realistically. i was told price might go up by 30-40$ but i got this one on order for 1217$ including ca. sales tax. i thought i might fit into a 52 but on the fit kit it was really small for me. the problem comes in with top tube length. i prob. could've got away with a 52 and long seatpost but it was way too cramped up top. remember it's a sloping top tube but the seattube measurements are c-t to the imaginary horizontal top tube(55cm will actually measure 52-53 on the tape).

Well, just heard from my dealer and my '04 Axis has been upgraded to the '05. The distributor didn't have any more in stock apparently. Unfortunately I'll have to wait another 2-4 weeks for my bike now! Anyone know where there is a picture of the '05 posted somewhere?

I just got some info re: the new 2005 Axis. It is pretty much the same bike as the 2004 with some minor differences. No changes in the drivetrain or major components. The pedals are now VP instead of WTB. The tires will be IRC knobbies instead of the Kenda Kwicks. The paint looses the blue near the headtube and checkboard pattern farther back, although the Bianchi Green is of course still present on the back 2/3rds of seat and downtubes, and on the chain/seatstays. The paint scheme is the front 1/3 of the frame is matte black with striped pattern similar to the 2004 Cross Concept. Of course the checkerboard pattern is cooler, but I'm sure costs an extra couple of dollars per frame... Also the sizes now go 55 -> 57 -> 59 -> 61cm instead of 55 -> 58 -> 61cm.
