Well, I've done it. I registered for the Michigan Mountain Madness ride in June. The whole thing seemed to gel so neatly too. The ride is June 12th, I already had the 11th booked off for a ride so I can use that as a travel day. We have friends in the Sault that the family can visit with while I'm getting pounded by the hills and it's not a charity ride so I don't have to have my hand out to everyone I meet. (Not that I dislike fundraising rides at all! My last five years have all had at least one fundraising ride.)
Now I've got a goal..., http://www.michiganmountainmayhem.com/index.php?p=1_9_Route for the profile, (sorry my Webfu is weak)
Hopefully I can see some of you folks out there too...?
Whew, sounds like more work than I'm ready to take on at this point, but it is beautiful country. If you're looking for a nice warmup while you're in the Sault, try the ride from Third Line, up Landslide Road hill to Kinsmen Park, and down the hill to Crystal Creek and Hiawatha Falls. Very scenic. The conservation area there is laced with hilly XC ski trails that make for dandy mountain biking too. The Sault area is loaded with great outdoor opportunities. A highly underrated town.
Have fun!:thumb:

Thanks Marmot. This time I'm just driving up the day before and not going to be taking in the joy of the Sault area. The last time I was there I rode the Hiawatha trails and had a blast! Great berms, nice layout, and like you said wonderful scenery.
I'm planning on warming up by the Niagara Circle in April, Halton's Hilly Hundred in May and hopefully being ready to not make a fool of myself in June.
Have fun folks!
