Hi all,
So, I had the terrible idea of opening up my Shimano 3cc 3-speed coaster brake hub just to give it a good greasing during a wheel overhaul. I was pretty careful, laid everything out in order, and reassembled it. It worked before. Now, it does not.
I've taken it back apart with another mechanic friend again since then. We reassembled it outside of the shell to get a good idea of what was taking place before putting it back together in the shell, but once all together again, it still doesn't shift.
I can't find a schematic of a 3cc anywhere. The closest thing I've looked at is the schematic for a 333 in the Glenn's manual we have, but it is totally different.

My beautiful '86 Schwinn Collegiate that the hub belongs to is just collecting dust in the basement now - right after I built a brand new wheel set for it. I'm pretty frustrated. Any suggestions?

Someone on the Yahoo Geared Hub Bikes group might be able to help you if you join it. Only members can post. There is a link to it in my signature block below.

Thanks Torchy!
That all looks very familiar. Now, I'm just hoping someone will find this thread and say, "Oh, when you put it back together you have to make sure you make sure X spring is in Y position and don't Z," and I'll be set.
The strange thing about it is that it all fits back together so exactly that I can't imagine something is in the wrong place. It not shifting is perplexing.
