I've read too many posts about people ragging on Performance for slow shipping or order mistakes or whatever so I feel like I have to share my positive experience.

I ordered a pair of LOOK A5.1 TDF edition pedals from Performance yesterday at 1:30pm. The lady taking my order tells me it probably won't get placed and shipped till tomorrow and not expect it till Monday. I think no big deal, order on Wednesday and get in on Monday - not bad. Well my pedals show up today, the very next day, 19 hours later from when I placed the order!! Holy crud, I can't believe it!! Furthermore, I got an awesome price. The pedals retail for $169 and I got them for $57 total, that's including tax and shipping. Yea baby!!

Uhhh, now how the hell do you install these things? :)

I am with you TCR. I have placed 2 orders in the last week (yea should have done it all in one order but whatever) and both were shipped quickly and arrived on my door step 2 days later. Not only that in 2 orders I have already paid for my Team Performance membership and everything now is just candy and you can just about always find a 20% off cupon.

their price for those is $94.98. how'd you trim it down to $57 shipped?

The pedals should have come with a tool to assist in getting them installed. It's basically just a wrench.

i like mail order in general. i unsuccessfully tried to haggle with Sun n Ski on a Yakima Kingpin-2 rack, which they have for 170 + 24 for a 1-1/4 adapter. (194 plus tax). Then I find it online yesterday for like 161 shipped.

Why patronize Sun n Ski to earn a commission for some kid that really doesn't help me much?

I still spread some of the wealth to the lbs, but im not about to effictively donate $50 to the lbs on the rack and travel to pick up when it can be dropped on my doorstep w/o the "surcharge."

They were $89.98 when I was looking at them on Tuesday. I guess they raised the price $5 since then but the lady taking my order gave me lower price when I mentioned it. Then I had $27 Perfomance bucks saved up and a 20% off coupon.

Getting the pedals on the bike is easy enough. It's installing the cleats correctly to my Sidis that has me a bit worried.

I am glad your experience has been good, mine has been horrible. I ordered a pair of shoes on sale and the order was placed and processed two weeks ago, and they still haven't shipped them. Yes, you read that right. They processed my order and still have not sent them out. How hard is it to put something in a box and mail it? I know they are busy, but that is pathetic. At this rate, I won't be getting any decent riding in this year.
Also, I placed another order two days after the first for a pair of shorts that they had on sale, since it is a discontinued product. They had my size and color listed on the internet, so I placed my order and also for a new saddle. They processed my order. Then, a week later now, they changed their website and took off my size and color option for the shorts and have told me they no longer have them. It took them over a week to figure this out.
And as far as the saddle goes, they still haven't shipped that either. And, it has been a week and a half. I was thinking maybe their website order status was just not being updated, so I called them and verified. Sure enough, nothing has yet been shipped out. I will give them another week. If not, then I will cancel my orders and demand a refund. This is pathetic.
It seems the only way to get anything in a "reasonable" amount of time, is to pay twice as much, and get it second day air, etc. For that price, I can just go to the local LBS, and get some "REAL" service.
I can order regular shipping from any business, and yes it takes a little longer to get, but at least they get it processed and shipped within just a couple days.
I really don't like ragging on Performance, as they have been very curteous to me when I call. But, if they don't get their act together, they will lose alot of good customers.

sun and ski is usually pretty bad....they often have a good bike selection, but their prices are usually high, and the level of knowledge ranges from very good to horrible depending on which salesdude you get.

S&S is really just a big-box store with some specialty stuff.....they are now owned by the same company as oshmans, IIRC

I do most of my shopping with Performance and I've had the same experiences you described a few times as well. I make sure I ask if it's in stock when I place the order because their website is quite often wrong when it comes to inventory. I once waited over 2 months for some Michelin tires because they were on back order but I got an awesome price so I didn't mind.

My order was processed 3 days ago, and my credit card charged, they have still not shipped my item, which was listed in stock.

Not sure that I will be using them again

Get ready to hurry up and wait. If they get it shipped out next week sometime, you will be lucky.

Ordered from their website, payed for 2 day shipping.Got it today with one item missing. Called costumer

service and they want me to sign something that the item was really not shipped before they could send

another one. At this time I'm not so pleased with Performance at all.

Gotcha! Well, I can only say that it took me about 4 tries before I found the optimum position on the sole of my shoe. Although this seemed like a pain in the beginning, I actually like that I had to fiddle with it. I got the exact position I like.

Well, it's been a few years so I have sort of relaxed my attitude towards Performance and now will point people to them with some caveats. I have even bought stuff from them again... a couple of innertubes. Their store here is typically understocked and not very helpful. I will admit that if they happen to have something I want, it's at a pretty good price. However, I'm still a little bitter about past experiences with them and this complaint letter I sent them (http://www.neebu.net/~khuon/cycling/performance_complaint_letter.txt) should explain it all.

FWIW, I've experienced the same thing with performance and their omission of items in shipments. After complaining about it after it happened a second time, I finally spoke with someone who was able to tell me what was going on. Apparently, the website isn't 100% realtime, as far as keeping up with their inventory. Sometimes, if they're low on an item, and multiple orders come in on the same day, the supply can get depleted before the website knows about it, and your item is backordered. This in itself isn't a huge problem. The REAL issue I have with the situation, is that once your item comes in, they don't ship it via the same method that you originally paid for on the original order. They ship it slow-ass first class us mail. I had an item come in today 8/19, that was shipped on 8/11. Personally, I think that if an item I ordered, that they displayed as in stock, becomes backordered due to their lack of technology, then the LEAST they could do is ship it via the same method I paid for to begin with.

I guess the lesson here is, even if you're ordering over the web, to call them first to verify that every item you're ordering is truly in stock. Otherwise it's gonna be 2 weeks before you get what you paid for. Oh, and btw, Supergo is exactly the same(i think they're the same company now).

With all this said, I will say that this is the only bad aspect of ordering with performance that I've encountered. Their prices and team membership have saved me tons of money.

I guess I'm lucky that I like 15miles from a performance shop. Very often I find items cheaper in the shop than they're listed in the catalog. For instance, a jersey was advertised for $50 in the catalog, but when I went to the store to see if they had one, it was $35! But the store doesn't carry nearly as much as what's advertised in the catalog, which is kinda aggrivating and the employees never know anything about any of the e-mail based sale fliers.

I called Performance again this morning concerning my order placed two weeks ago. They still have not shipped my order and the girl even admitted to me, she has no idea what is going on. What a pathetic joke for a business.
My patience is wearing thin. They said they would give a message to a supervisor, who would then call me back and let me know where my orders are, and has yet to call me back when they said they would. I will give them until monday to shape up and ship my order, otherwise I will take my business elsewhere, and never order from them again. This is disgusting, whoever is charge of processing and shipping orders should be fired immediately. No reputable business does this to their customers.

A word to the wise, you might consider staying away from Performancebike.com like the black plague, unless you want to recieve your order two months later for saving just a few dollars.

I think I will be making another trip to the LBS. At least there they can help me with the products I want and the proper service customers deserve for their hard earned money.

P.S. I really hope someone who works at Performancebike.com is reading this!!!!
