I'm interested if anyone has any info about this BB (http://www.suginoltd.co.jp/english/product_bb_mb608-2_english.htm) and whether or not Sugino has plans to make their cranks compatible.

Thanks

And what's so special about that external bottom bracket?

They make good parts, but I don't know if they plan a crank for it.

They have already produced cranks for this, just Google "Sugino Direct Drive", see one here (http://www.qbike.com/product/s/Sugino-RD-5000-Direct-Drive-Road-Crankset.shtml), although they appear to have discontinued them, it's no surprise that they are still selling the bottom brackets so that current owners can replace theirs when needed. There are also some reports that they are developing new models of compatible cranks, see this post (http://velo-orange.blogspot.com/2009/03/taipei-cycle-show-update-3.html) on Velo Orange's blog (I really want that super-compact double).

I want that crankset, stem, and seatpost! Velo-orange has been getting some of my hard-earned coin lately.
