coming up, coming up......on Saturday, I'll be attempting my first metric century (62 mi). Longest ride to date is 40 miles. This one is the Cool Breeze Century, from Ventura northwards and back along the beach. It's mostly flat, just 1500 of my closest friends peddling along.
With three rest stops, I'm not overly concerned about getting some breaks, but definately a bit wary of some hot spots that have been developing as I ride. (using toe clips with a mtb shoe). I'm hoping that the breaks will ease of that and I'll avoid the problem. I guess if it gets bad, I can squash down the cages and ride more like a platform. I'll probably know by the first break at 18 miles.
I'm pretty jazzed about trying this and a bit anxious too! My wife and 9 year old have promised to be waiting at the finish area to join me for a pasta lunch (provided I get back in time and don't end up out there until dinner!!)
