Northeast - Any NH Manchesterites?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've got a job interview on Tuesday in downtown Manchester, wondering how the riding/XC skiing is in the area. Any opinions?
No hearsay please, I've had enough negative hearsay from people who've never been there.

I worked on the West side of Manchester for several years until our company moved to Hooksett. I used to ride at lunchtime quite often - usually I headed out toward Goffstown, but the nice thing is that there were quite a few choices as to places and directions to ride. Where I am in Hooksett now the choices are much more limited.
There is a couple of recreational paths in the Manchester area, if that's your thing.
No idea on the XC skiing, sorry.
Good luck on your interview!

I live out on Cape Ann in MA now but I'm a very proud St. A's alum. Some really nice areas to ride in that area, especially bedford/goffstown. Go exploring!

I live about 50 miles northwest in the mountains so I can't help you out with where to ride or ski in the Manchester area.
But if you need a repair or service, in Hooksett is a branch of Goodales LBS. I like to call it my "Not So LBS" since it is 45 miles from the house. Mike is one of the best mechanics I know. Whenever I can't do something myself, Mike is my go-to guy. Very knowledgeable, always willing to take on my most obscure challenge, and is never stumped, even by my old Schwinn stuff and with their odd sizes.
There's great riding and skiing in my part of NH, and believe it or not, people commute from here every day.
Best of luck on your interview today!

Pastorbob, where are you? Danbury, here. I have an hour commute to either where I used to work in Manchester or where I am now in Hooksett.
The Concord Goodale's might be a little closer to you - I've had good luck there.

Oo-v-oO,
Not far from you in New London. Are you riding yet? I've not been on a bike since early December.
I like the Concord Goodales, but Mike works at the Hooksett location. In my case, both stores are about the same distance, within 2-3 miles of each other. Mike built me 2 pair of wheels a couple of years ago for my vintage Schwinns. They were perfect when new and and are still perfect today. I guess you could say we have a "Relationship."
So Hocam, how did the interview go?

Go Hawks! I would agree, there are some good rides in Goffstown, Bedford, New Boston.

Absolutely! Are you an alum as well? If so what year did you graduate and what'd you study? 2008 here, International Relations with certificates in Spanish and Latin American Studies

Bob;
I have been riding on and off all winter, as time and conditions allow. I keep a rusty old mountain bike with slick tires at work and get out at lunchtime whenever the roads are reasonably dry and the temperature is over 20 degrees.
Let me know if you'd like to go on a ride some time when it gets nicer out - I'm fat and slow, but trying to get faster.
