I just found this and it looks very cool. It has kind of a wavy look when there is a lot of light and it has some depth to it visually. Also it feels dense and weighs a lot given it's size. It's about an 1 1/2 inches long. I would compare its weight to the piece of lead of the same size if not heavier.

Take a look..

Maybe the pics don't do it justice but that's the best I could do.

stained glass paper weight?

The only way to identify it is to do a destructive test. Take a hammer to it to see if it has concoidal fracture.

You might be right, but it does weigh a lot more then regular glass unless SGPW weighs more then glass.

Then it's not likely a gemstone. If it were, it wouldn't be as heavy as an equivalent sized piece of lead. Aside from that, it just looks like something that was manufactured. It doesn't look like a mineral, unless it's been stained. I have a degree in geology, but that doesn't make me an expert.

Yea it's probably nothing special. But just in case I'll take it to the jeweler and make a fool of my self probably

No but it does turn for like 20 seconds when you flick it on a smooth surface.

But maybe it's a watch. A Mayan watch perhaps.

No, it definitely looks manufactured when looked more closely.

I have a degree in geology too, but I'm no mineral expert. I agree with JoelS, it doesn't look like a real mineral.

Exactly where did you find it?

Possibly, though I still might have chalked it up to the lack of a spell checker. :p

In a backpack I bought from the thrift store.

No it's not a mineral. There are traces of melting on the bottom of it, like little tiny holes all over the bottom.

It was exciting for a moment.
