Foo - Which sports should be added to the Olympic Games???

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Darts would be a great addition. Darts has a rich history involving some of the most elite athletes you'll ever see. These athletes have the physical & mental attributes necessary to deliver the dart to an extremely small target, all the while battling the effects from the copious amounts of beer they consume during the match. Clearly Darts deserves consideration from the IOC as an addition to either winter or summer Olympics.

Football is the most popular sport on the planet.

Can't we get past the America hate and recognize that on the Olympic stage?

Is that true? I would believe football-soccer, but based on your location I'm guessing you mean football-football. No way north american football gets in. Might as well just add Nascar at the same time if we're adding football.

I think the rest of the planet would disagree. Besides I don't think even one of the players in NFL could pass even a cursory drug test.

I like riding down toboggan hills so I'd be so down to try and ride a boarder cross course. Then we could apply it to the downhill, and the GS , maybe even the mogals and freestyle courses.

Winter: Flatland sledding. For those of us who grew up on the plains. Equipment: tennis shoes, jersey gloves, jeans, sweatshirt, radio flyer sled. Hold the sled in front of you, sprint, launch and flop onto the sled with your belly, slide a few yards. Repeat until the sled breaks or your toes are frozen.

Hmmm, that does sound interesting. I'm quite certain that Canadians haven't tried it yet. You'll have to show us how it's done with a demonstration. I'm sure you'll be ready to go over the falls come Sunday night :D

Add a texting component to short track speed skating, making for bitextual athletes in the biskathalon, they need something to do with the outside arm anyhow.

they bike in the snow in lots of places (http://www.myshavedlegs.com/2010/01/16073-words-about-amsterdam.html).

didn't mean to leave out the place you currently live (Nederland, no?) along with Wallonia, etc., but general sentiment regarding cyclocross being added stands.

btw, what's the deal with having mountain bikes in there as well?

For the Summer Olympics:

Cricket (if they would change the rules a little to shorten the matches). Played by all the former colonies of the British Empire and a few other nations, too. Would love to see an "Ashes" gold medal match! (if you have to ask what that is, you ain't a cricket fan)

Rugby. Better than (american) football or soccer IMO.

Winter Olympics:

Some type of triathalon would be interesting - maybe xc skiing, snowshoe run, and cyclocross?

According to Wikipedia, Rugby Sevens will be in the 2016 games. (Unless that's a typo and they meant they were in the 1916 games. :)
