Texas - Superdrome Century: May 8th!

One Gear. One Day. One Hundred Miles.

The Superdrome Century is back for the second edition and everyone with track certification and suitable experience is welcome to join us. Certification (Development Class) information is available at the http://www.superdrome.com/ website. If you are coming up from Alkek you'll be fine, as usual.

This event is for charity and we'll be raising money for LiveStrong. More details will be available as the weeks pass. We hope to see many new faces this year.

If anyone did the event last year please share your experience.

I am interested but have never been on the track or used a track bike, I have done the HH100 a few times if that counts for anything. I'm mainly curious about the pace line, pace, and if you're able to rent a bike. What happens if you can't keep the pace with the pace line or do you have to keep the pace? Seems like a track ride would be a more structured/rigid ride since there's less room...I've been wanting to get certified at the superdrome, would this be enough time? I also have the Bike MS in Frisco I think the week before, and might be pushing it mileage wise...

I can't answer the specific questions regarding the actual charity ride (pace line etc.)
but I can tell you riding the 'drome is the most fun on a bike I've had in years.
I highly recommend you take the intro track class at the superdrome, but be warned once you
do you're going to want to buy a track bike!

Thanks for the N + 1 warning about needing a track bike after taking a class. Is it legal to want/need two different types of bikes at the same time (Trout Panamerican and a track) http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/6272413/

As much as we would love to have you we are very careful about having cyclists who are too new to the track out for this event. Pace lining at the Superdrome is vastly different from doing so on a road bike and pack skills are essential as well as strong fixed gear skills. I encourage you to take the class and use the track for training or racing, but this would be a bit much as we're only a month out and you would still need to be track certified. Sorry.

We're trying to work on the event but since the main protagonist is also shooting the Tour of California for Graham Watson we're a little pressed...

No problem, that's kind of what i figured...I'll try to make it to the track some day tho...but i do try to avoid frisco like the plague...so maybe i won't :)
