Haven't seen a post from DV in a long time. Anyone know how he's doing and if he's doing alright?
As far as I know, that cat is doing A-OK. Haven't seen that cat around lately but haven't heard anything negative otherwise.

I ran into him while riding a few weeks back. I had to take him out because he was pushing a bigger gear than me.
DV and i used to be v-good pals, but had a falling out. This may have to do with his leaving the board. It was pretty high-school.

Hey, speaking of lost comrades, what happen to Lucklust??
I heard he was at the recent cattle calls for the Dawson's Creek reunion series.
dv was supposed to be my fixed partner in crime on ragbrai but he never showed. I had to fight off the "are you crazy" jokes by myself. sad.

careful you too:
The bikeforums be SOOOO litigious. I heard lawyers are lining up to fulfill all the legal actions pending. I have considered retaining the services of one "Schiek," DC Metro Power lawyer.

Get off your "I've been cooler than you are" high saddle and you'll learn to appreciate humour.
As for my life span, you've got no say nor play, so..

I'll have you know, my inseam is only 32". Regardless, Either you read far too much into my posts, or I must be innately cooler than I ever cared to be.
Either way, I'm intriqued by your peculiar fascination with my demeanor.

I'm still around... I've just been insanely busy recently. When school starts on Monday, I'll have more time to check in on the forums.

Hey, the only reason I was there was to try and get into Katie Holmes' (http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hc&id=1800018992&cf=pg&photoid=495160&intl=us) pants... unfortunately she wasn't there, so I had to settle for Mary Beth Peil. (http://www.angelfire.com/mo/musicluver2006/MaryBethPeil.html)

mmm...delicious vegans
speaking of vegans, how many other vegans are on the board?
I'm a recovering vegan; still vegetarian, and I eat very little eggs or dairy. Without being able to eat cheese, I lost my appetite and 20 lbs in a very short span of time.

vegan straight edge here.

That makes me feel almost bad to be sitting here drinking beer and whiskey and eating a 10 pack of white castle mozzarella sticks and a half pound cheeseburger from wendys...
Almost...
:)
Okay, it doesn't. Sorry. Food is food. Most food animals on the planet wouldn't exist in their current gene scheme without humans. And we wouldn't exist without them. It's just part of life on Earth. Life eats life.. That's just what life does, all the way down to the cellular level. I don't like the idea of it being institutionlalized (sp) into fast food, but when I'm faced with staying up having not having anything to eat that might fill me up (I'm a BAD chef) or drinking a bit instead of eating, I'll choose eating a 1/2 pound of beef and a couple of moxxarella sticks, it's not really much of a choice...
Most of my food is plant form though. Distilled plant extract. 80 proof... Mmm...
Uh yeah, what was I talking about?
Is it a moral thing, or a health thing?
People who eat just fish (high quality) as their meat are healthier than pure vegetarians because of the good things in fish meat/fat.
i see an endless thread coming
I'm vegetarian....practically vegan. I started for health reasons - most meat has had some pretty nasty stuff done to it. Now it's more of a financial/habitual thing. Meat and cheese is $$$$.
The best thing that going vegetarian did for me was force me to learn how to cook. I almost never eat out now.

i've been vegan for about 8 years now. it started off because of the animals and of course i still believe in that but now it's just kinda second nature.

I like the idea of it, I think most people would feel differently if they had to butcher their animals.
I'll probably always eat eggs and fish, and occasionally when someone's grilling it's just too hard to resist.
I've had to help butcher my animals before. Elk.
They were yummy afterwards, but it was a slightly sickening experience (15 years old, I think)....
Anyways...
(I'm putting that at the end of everything now...)

(i realize that this topic has probably been debated in every other bikeforum)
i've been vegan for a while, too. i started when i was in college, and would often argue with non-vegan students about their lifestyle choices. today, i really just want people to understand the substance of the choices they make, and realize that for some people (probably everyone on this forum) those are in fact CHOICES. however for most people living on this planet, food is not about choice; it's about sustenance.
sorry to continue with this contentious issue.

I can and have butchered chickens and gutted a deer. The fish here are full of mercury. Killing and eating animals just isn't necessary to my survival in the city, so I don't. I just don't eat meat, so I'm leaving more for those who do ;)
After contemplating my moral dilemmas, I've decided that what is necessary for my survival in the city is my new Brooks Pro saddle. My arse is very happy.

recovering vegan here, now just vegetarian. and yes, it completely taught me how to cook.
and with jameson and his constant talk of whiskey and drinking, anyone had any experience distilling. maybe absinthe? that would be something.
vegan here, for many years now (7?). i'm vegan purely because it makes you better in the sack. but wait.. are sacks vegan? time to re-label myself... darnit.

Have any evidence to support this conclusion? I would think a carnivore would be better able to handle the meat...
Sorry. Really I don't know what came over me. Suddenly I feel like i'm a 6th grader.

i can see the logic in being vegetarian, but i think being vegan is going too far, it's not even healthy. every vegan i know is skinny, weak and wimpy, although they're quick to point out that some world champ weightlifter is vegan. as if that makes up for their own waifishness.
i'm sure that if you do it right (and have a lot of information/money), being vegan is a good thing. but i think for the common person, it's too hard to be vegan "properly".
me personally, i don't discriminate with what i eat, as long as it's not fast food or microwaveable. i'd rather eat a nice fatty steak than a microwaveable low-fat entree. i think all these prepared foods are what makes us get cancer and die early. i'd rather be fat than get cancer.

I totally agree. i think it's the processing and weird ingrediants that are bad for you compared to whole foods, even including beef, chicken, etc. I have to get chicken from behind the butchers counter now so I don't get "up to 15% added chicken broth or whatever" for flavor. All the standard brands like tyson and so on have added this garbage. Genetics are the main reason for long life, and I do agree a small steak is better food than a microwaveable garbage "Mcfood" type entree
Eat Steak
Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.
Cowpokes'll come from a near and far
When you throw a few rib-eyes on the fire
Roberto Duran ate two before a fight
'Cause it gave a lot of mighty men a lot of mighty might
Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.
Eat meat, eat meat, filet mignon
Eat meat, eat meat, ear it all day long
Eat a few T-bones till you get your fill
Eat a new york cut, hot off the grill
Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.
Eat a cow, eat a cow 'cuase it's good for you
Eat a cow, eat a cow it's the thing that goes "Mooooo"
Look at all the cows in the slaughterhouse yeard
Gotta hit'em in the head, gotta hit'em real hard
First you gotta clean'em then the butcher cuts'em up
Throws it on a scale throws an eyeball in a cup
Saw a big Brangus Steer standing right over there
So I rustled up a fire cooked him medium rare
Bar-B-Q'ed his brisket, a roasted his rump
Fed my dog that ol' Brangus Steer's hump
Eat steak, eat steak eat a big ol' steer
Eat steak, eat steak do we have one dear?
Eat beef, eat beef it's a mighty good food
It's a grade A meal when I'm in the mood.
