Does anybody know how much the '04 Giant OCR Elite weighs in a small? Also does anybody know specificaly which shimano dual pivot brakes it uses? Their Catalouge specifies on anything 105 or higher so my guess is that it's either Sora or Tiagra.

I may be new, but what does that mean?

If you're refering to "*bump*" it's just me putting my thread back up where somebody might see it since nobody had replied yet.

I just bought an '04 OCR Elite but I do not know the weight. Mine is a large anyway. for me. The brakes are stamped Shimano but not Ultegra. However the LBS tells me they are in fact Ultegra brakes just not labeled "Ultegra". Possibly some price/product negotiation with Shimano and Giant(ie. yes we will meet your request on price for this product but will not label it as such, etc) Could be total bs, but seems plausible. The brakes look identical to Ultegra for what it is worth. Awesome bike in any event. My experience was that Elites are hard to find. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. They are hard to find indeed. My LBS contacted Giant and tracked one down for me. I just have to wait a couple more long weeks. Do the brakes work pretty good? I was contemplating upgrading them to Ultegra if they weren't too good. For example if I bough the OCR1 I'd definately have to switch out those tektros. My lbs is pretty fair about upgrades they are going to give me the retail value of whatever part they swap off twoards the upgrade. So I'm going to definately upgrade the pedals to SPD-SL. Everything else on that bike looks top of the line.

The brakes seem excellent to me, but I just bought the bike 3 days ago so my ride time is limited. As I said in my last post the LBS told me the brakes were Ultegra spec. I dunno though, seems suspect. As long as they operate as they have been I will keep them. I am going to change my pedals eventually as well. Like you said, pretty much top quality all around.

Another LBS has told me that '05 Elites are going to be all carbon with 105 components. And a higher price. The '04 is the one I wanted and feel pretty lucky to have found one. I called 20 shops, found 2 OCR Elites and one in my size. And had to get them to hold it for 24hrs so I could get down there. While I was there another guy came in and wanted the bike. Whew! There are plenty of great bikes but this is the one I wanted.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be happy with the brakes as long as they work good. It does sound like the '04 Elite is a better deal with the ultegra at a better price point. However I have never rode a full carbon bike.
