Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

when i try to do a "barhop" i cant quite jump over the bars....instead i throw my left leg over and put it on the right peg.....then i throw my other leg over and stick them out in front of me. then i let go of the handlebars.......is this a different trick or a variation of the barhop(throwin the legs over part)

No, you are just walking over really. That's how I typically do it, I don't jump anymore since I've gotten older and have lost some flexibility.
When I learned them and was to chicken S#!T to jump, I would actually walk directly onto the bars. I would put my left foot on top of the bars, then lift my right foot up and over the bars, then jump my left foot down off of the bars. So, for a second I was standing one footed on the bars holding on with both hands.
Once you are over the bars and sitting down, that is the barhop position really.
