Does anybody know what the thread size is for the braze-ons on a Tubus Cargo? Using these to create another transverse member would give me some additional mounting options.
The eyelets are near the rear of the rack and intended to mount the spring bar accessory. I can't thread in a 5mm bolt by hand and I don't want to try and use tools until I'm sure I know what the thread size is.
I had dificulty threading a 5mm in there so I tapped it out. I think the threads get crudded up easily when they're welded/painted. After cleaning the threads with a tap I could screw a 5mm in but it won't go far. A 5mm thread tap is a good thing to have in the tool box.

Some people say this does not work but I have to clean out the threads all the time on racks and on my bike frame and I have always use a 10/32 tap.And have never had a problem with threading any thing.I have done it for years now.Last time I did it was for my racks the threads on my bike needed to be clean out and I use the 10/32 tap and it turn out great for me.Hope this helps.
