Had to laugh at myself today, made one of the mistakes I'm always telling new riders to watch out for. When changing flats always check tire to see what caused it, especially if you find no pinch flat. Well I didn't and a little peice of glass got me twice....lol Then to add insult to injusy my last spare wouldn't hold air! Call my wife and she has no idea how to get to were I am, I tell her to meet me in a little town that she can find and hopefully I'lll be there. Root around in my saddle bag and find a peice of black tape find hole in tube apply tape on a wing and a prayer. It held air long enough to get me to the little town 2km away. On the bright side I had a great ride, a little of everything, some climbing, some flats and hey I got to test my flat changing skills, and man it took like 30 minutes to clean the bike, we had a little snow yesterday and the roads where covered in salt and sand, but man it was good to be on the road.

If your weren't at home watching the hockey.... This will explain the flats. The sports gods will get you in the end.
I got a single speed with big heavy studded tires. Low maintenance if any. Look for the flat est rides and put on the base miles.
The road bike does feel good though.

Actually the biggest hill I did was one just before Morgans road, only did 275m of climbing over the whole ride. I can pick a pretty flat route to Newcastle or Port Hope if I choose too. Can't wait till season gets in full swing and we can hook up. Would like to find a good ride for the club to do, want to do a club cross over ride with the Ganaraska Freewheelers sometime in June just to meet and have fun with different riders. I may try and find a used SS, not fixed, for next year. Something with pretty light gearing thou may 46x17?

Well, I've had the wife fetch me a time or two, which doesn't go over well there, but oh well.
Had a great experience last Saturday. I was doing a long ride, well into the ride, was hitting a bit of headwind and just about tired out. I was stopped at a convenience store, went to get back on my bike, swung my leg over the bike, and missed. That is, didn't swing high enough, and had to repeat the maneuver. And yes, people were watching me. But at least I wasn't sitting around the house.
