Touring - Delta Megarack

has anyone used this Delta Megarack before? i am in need of a front rack and this looks like it would fit. would it be strong enough to go across the states with me?

I don't have that exact rack, but have used something similar and cheaper for many thousands of miles with absolutely no problems.

When installed, it looks a bit like the one you reference, with the cross bar much more forward.

The truth is that most racks on the market will do what you're asking. The names often seen on this site are: Jannd, Tubus, Nitto, Rack Time, Old Man Mountain, Blackburn and many others. Surly makes what they call a "Nice Rack" but it's on the heavy side and expensive but bomb proof. Most of the racks mentioned above are the higher priced variety with the exception of Blackburn. I used a Blackburn rack similar to the one you show and never had a single issue with it. Sites like Peter White and Sheldon Brown (Harris Cyclery) have some good advice on racks and how they should be used and not used.
