Mountain Biking - I contracted an STP today.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
STP1, that is.

Yeah, so a couple weeks back I ended up taco-ing the rear wheel on my 03 Iguana doing some urban. I had been thinking about getting a new bike for quite some time and this pretty much made me go through with it. Went to the shop, test rode a STP3, fell in love. Ordered a STP1 on the 9th and it just came in today. I absolutely love it.
A few pics...and one riding pic for good measure. :)

Awesome bike. A locally Giant sponsored Australian rider was just saying in a magazine here how he has a STP1 and absolutely loves it. He uses it for street, DJ AND Racing too! You can't go wrong with it!
And Mael, Have you seen the Giant DH Comp or DH Team? If they dont catch your eye, i dont know what will. Very original frame design.

That's the first time I've ever seen flourescent ear wax...
What can I say? Sparks fly when I am shredding.

It's all about where you ride.... That bike's worthless where I ride, but I suppose it's OK for "in the city"
types....
Maybe a new Forum category should be started that contains this type of Street Hopper bike.

Have you even tried riding a hardtail when freeriding or when going downhill? Also those hardtails that you call street hopper bikes can take more abuse than alot of the full suspension bike can take. The bikes like the stuff, STP1, P2, Chase can handle alot more than street or dirt jumping.

Good bike for trials type riding, not DH though.... Loses it's footing @ 50 mph downhill on singletrack.

I told you once already to not bust on riding downhill on a hardtail before you give it a fair shot and ride a hardtail downhill. Thing is at 50mph going down single track any bike will lose it's footing even with the highest tech full suspension system. You are making broad generalizations with out backing up your statements there, the 50 mph going down singletrack and having a hardtail lose it's footing can't be backed up because full suspension bikes loose their footing at 50 as well.

The p2s at my lbs look so frigging tempting!! Only 900 CAD and they might even go to the fall bike show, meaning further price dorps if they bring their p2!! I want it!! NOW!!
Nice.. I guess Giant wants their piece of the hardtail urban pie ;)

i felt the same way hooligan, but my other lbs convinced me to go towards the kona stuff...they are giving me a $100 bucks discount, so it is a good deal

Well, now, due to safety, I am trying to get a higher end bike.
Kona is too expensive for everything so now, I want to stick with the STP2, the P2 or a Norco Bigfoot. Something around the 600-700 dollar range, which is why I want the STP. It's cheap and probably pretty strong.
does the stp 2 have marz. comps on it?
