Tandem Cycling - I'm gitten one too !

I've ridden singles for years. Even tried recumbents for awhile. (Still have a trike). Got my wife into road biking two years ago and she loves it. We rented a tandem last fall to see how we'd "work together". We had it for an afternoon and had a blast. We were sold. As seems to be fairly norm, I'm much stronger than she, so it'll allow us to ride together more often and comfortably. ANYWAY, last Saturday I ordered a Co-Motion Speedster. Not sure if I can afford the performance package yet, but going to try. I'm pumped (so to speak). It'll take around six weeks before we get it. Just in time for the weather to get better (I live in the foothills of Colorado). I read this forum every day and have learned a lot from all of you. Thanks.

Co-Motion is a great choice!
We owned a custom Co-Mo with custom paint and put 57,000 miles on it. Sold it in 2003 and it is still in use today.

Congrats! I'm a bit envious of the new Co-Mo. 6 weeks for your Speedster doesn't sound bad at all. I 'spect it'll be ready just in time for some good weather. What color(s) did you spec and what does the Speedster weigh-in at? That bike looks pretty svelte. Again, congratulations!

Thanks everyone. I'm getting Ferrari Red. Closest I'll ever come to one. I believe I read somewhere in stock form, the Speedster weighs 35.5 pounds. The performance package (Rolf wheels, Gates belt set-up, and Wound-Up carbon fork) knocks off 2.5 pounds. I'm also swapping captain handlebars and stem, both seatposts, and seats. In my quest for the "perfect ride", I've ridden steel, aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, and back to steel. My single (Waterford) is the most comfortable ride I've ever had. I'm attempting to duplicate the specs (measurements) as close as possible on the Speedster without going custom built. I know I'll love it. And to be able to ride with my Honey will make it that much better.

Our original tandem was a speedster. We bought it used even though it was not an ideal fit in order to find out if we would enjoy tandeming. The speedster served us well as it got us hooked on tandeming. If not for fit issues* and our desire for couplers I would have had no logical reason to get a differnt tandem.

*captains stand over hieght was a little tall

Our first and current tandem is a 2005 CoMo Speedster - will all the options available at the time. I worked with our local shop to order it - so they gave me credit on items that CoMo wouldn't upgrade - like the Campy Ergo shifters, captains stem, handlebars and saddles. Ours weighs in at 32lbs.

Very nice Joe. I used to have a Cannondale single with that same blue fade. Loved the color, but the ride was harsh. We're getting Ultegra components, but Ultegra has upgraded. They now have carbon fiber shifters.

You'll love it. Shimano stuff always works well - I just prefer Campy Ergo levers. While i'd love to get a new Calfee - i'm reminded every time I ride the Speedster why I like it so much. It's extremely comfortable on long rides.

congrats and welcome to the sporting life! we ride a C'dale and love it. we've ridden 1 1/2 years so far and it is great. we are looking forward to the warm weather!
