Northeast - Boston commuters: Ready to ditch the studs?

I want to real bad. But I'm not so good at divining the future. Any Boston riders who've decided to replace the studs with spring tires?

Well I haven't put my studs on yet this winter....So I would say yeah, pretty safe to take them off. That being said, I am about 25 miles NW of you, and with probably better roads.

I will wait until April 1 at least. I have the Schwalbe Marathon Winters and the only the noise is noticeable, and not unpleasant, like "electronic rice crispies" as noteon described. :lol:

I do ride my smooth quiet road bike when the routes are dry.

Keep in mind we're in "psych season" right now (heard someone use that term the other day). In other words, its the time of year when mother nature is teasing us with spring-like weather, but will in all likelihood turn around and slam us with something nasty before long.

Heck, I'm in shorts already...March 1st baby...it was a balmy 45 yesterday and while today snowed on the ride in it was still okay. Sure beats the teens and high winds of January.

I'm running 32mm Nokias which don't slow me too much... I'm keeping them on for a couple more weeks at least.

Never put them on! Only have to do a Somerville to Cambridge commute though.
