Probably the lobsters were chanting , where's the sage and Thyme..!..

..
.
.TWO Russian men died in a sauna after jumping into a plunge pool that had accidentally been heated to boiling point, investigators and media said.

The two men jumped into the pool to cool down after sweating in a steam room.

A third man tried to save the victims but was unable to pull the men out of the boiling water, Komsomolskaya Pravda tabloid reported today.

The two men's bodies were discovered in the sauna in the city of Kirov in central Russia on February 18 and "their death was caused by overheating", the Kirov regional investigative committee confirmed in a statement.

The water in the pool was "overheated due to an error by one of the victims," investigators said.

The moment I saw the headline in local press, I thought it's way off base. Poor guys didn't die "in a sauna", they died in a pool. Not the same room, maybe even not the same building. And generous amounts of alcohol were consumed, I suspect.

But I do wonder about a "pool" that has enough heating capacity to bring water to boil... wood heated outdoors "bath barrels" are all the rage here, and from experience I know it takes several hours of continuous heating to reach lukewarm temperatures even, at this time of the year. This pool must've been inside, and heated by electricity/gas/some other fuel that doesn't require constant monitoring.

Let's hope they were so full of vodka, they had little idea of their pain. . The post is tragic and I can't imagine how it happened..

So they jump in, a third guy tries to save them, then later the bodies were discovered? Really? Sounds a bit fishy to me.

Does the anonymity of the Internet make us all sociopaths or something?

Curious.

Can I have some vodka too, Monopolowa please, also, can you serve it to me in a frozen martini glass that has had a dash of vermouth swirled in it, then poured out. Oh, and can you put the vodka in a shaker with some ice and some olive juice, and shake it before straining it into the martini glass? Oh, and can you put three olives in the glass, on a cocktail stirrer. Oh, and can you stuff one olive with almonds and the other two with pearl onions? Thanks. I will be on the patio, so do you mind bringing me my slippers and a smoking jacket? That would be great.

I admit, the first thing I thought of was a joke, and I laughed at all the responses to the thread and then got to thinkin about it a little. Kinda sick and demented creatures we all are.

You can either laugh or cry at the world. I tend to hide behind laughter. Not the healthiest of things to do, but we all have our issues. And yes, the anonymity of the internet combined with the media's propensity to heap gore at our feet on a daily basis have served to desensitize us to the suffering of humanity. Thanks for the reality check.

yes, humanity can be pretty sick and demented. As jsharr stated...its either laugh or cry. I don't like to cry.

Yeah right! Another guy tries to save them, but the bodies were discovered later? Baloney!
In theUSA even a residential shower now is required to have a mixing valve so one can not turn it up too high. They are in the 120 F maximum range. The power to get a small pool to boil is huge !!! Also the room would totally be filled with steam that would be hot enough to hurt, once you walked into the room. It may have been too hot, but not boiling. 130F - 140f can really hurt.

105F can kill you....especially if alcohol is involved....this is my suspicion....there's no way the pool was actually boiling, but it clearly was hot enough to cause them to overheat.

I favor a WC Fields approach to life.. Some horrible fate could face us all.. WC Field's would likely make sport of his own death, if he could tell a joke from the great beyond.
.. How about something like. ..Heah. A light at the end of the Tunnel.
this very well could be a Darwin Award, but then they didn't know their fate.

Not sure about the PH but some of those pools are hot hot hot. I imagine a hot pool with a PH of 1 would just be the icing on the cake though.
