Road Cycling - Jeannie Longo's bike...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What's with the geometry of Longo's frame?

On both her road bike and her TT bike the bottom bracket is quite high (look how the tube to the rear wheel slopes down).
Does somebody know why this is? Does she use 26" wheels or something? It seems to me that with 28" wheels such a geometry results in a very unusual ground clearance, even more than on a cyclocross bike or MTB.
Thanks in advance,
Timo

God how tall is she? That head tube looks like the frame is 48cm. She must be a Smurf!
Well, of course: it's her TT frame which explains the short head tube. Note the length of the seat tube and seatpost. In her long, long, long career she proved to be some sort of bionic woman but she never appeared to be a smurf :)

Yeah I know it's her TT frame but the top tube isn't overly long for the lenght of the head tube. Nor are either out of perportion to the length of the down tube. The seat post isn't overly long/high for a TT bike either.
BTW her stats: 5'4' 103#'s

Look how long the stem is. That accounts for the not-so-long top tube. Apparently she likes a short wheelbase.

The stem looks normal for the length of the tt to me. If you look at the TdF bikes you'll see a lot of the small frame/long stem/high seatpost set ups. Her bike really doesn't look all that extreme to me. She does seem to have long cranks for her size though and that might account for the slightly higher BB, help give the bike some ground clearence.
Her bike for the RR in Hamilton had the same upward sloping chainstays. Either she likes a very high BB or she's riding 650C wheels yet likes a normal BB height for pedalling out of corners.

<edit> Ya... now that I look at it I think those are 650C wheels.

I believe she is 46.
Not only is she still riding, but in Hamilton WC last fall she attacked on the second to last lap and surprised the poop out of everyone.

Is Lance Armstrong the Jeannie Longo of cycling?
Not in a million years. I am no fan of "Madame Diabolique", but just look at her results...
833 victories (including 3x Tour Feminin)
38 world records (incl. the hour record, recently broken by Zijlaard van Moorsel)
13 world titles (Road, TT and track)
30 medals on world championships and olympic games
47 national titles (Road, TT and track)
