Touring - XD600 with Tiagra Triple Front Derailleur (but what version....?)

I am setting my XD600 (48/36/26) for a 45mm chainline on either a 110-113 BB (have both to try). I see all over the forums that a very popular front derailleur is the Tiagra Triple. I am using DA bar end shifters. I am running a 9 speed chain/cassette.

That said, many of the post on this topic are several years old. People always say "The Tiagra Triple" works great. Until a few years ago the model was called the FD-4403, and this version allowed for a 45mm chainline, a min tooth difference of 10T, and most importantly could handle a tooth difference of 22T (which is what I have)

The new version that replaced the FD-4403 several years back is now called the FD-4503. It still has a 45mm chainline, now has a min tooth difference of 11T, BUT is now listed as only handling a 20T difference (to me this is a problem for my 48/36/26 combo)

I am having an impossible time finding the IRD Alpina D in stock anyplace on the planet or else I would just get it. Avoiding current Shimano mountain derailleurs because of the 50mm chainline.

SO..... Is anyone running at 48/36/26 combo with the NEWEST Tiagra Triple (the FD-4503) or are most people using the older model from a few years ago?

fwiw, I'm running the FD 4503 on my roadie and it's a 52/42/30 with no problems. Generally Shimano is fairly conservative on what the FD/RD will handle.

Thru some luck and a 20 minute search thru some old stock of used derailleurs in a giant tub, my LBS was able to find me a cleanish version of the FD-4403 (older triple version) for $20. They even put a 28.6mm clamp on it for me they pulled off a double of the same vintage so I didn't have to use some unsightly shims. Thumbs up to my LBS for taking the time to look, clean and adjust an item at such a low price point! You can't go wrong really for $20!!

I'm running a triple 105 FD on the same 48-36-26 crankset. Works great.

Good to know. Just curious, is it the current version (listed as 20T max difference, 10 speed) Model FD-5603? I think the OP is right, the listed range is conservative by Shimano.... If it is the older version the FD-5503 then it was designed for a 22T difference. See shimano tech doc link:

It looks to me that the TIAGRA FD-4403 and the 105 FD-5503 were speced for 22T and their replacements FD-4505 and FD-5603 both dropped to 20T.....
