Parking 12$
Entrance 13$
I’m out of 25$ and didn’t buy anything yet.
I went there second time today in my life, not many deals, I would say exactly opposite – complete rip-off:
Mavic Aksium race sticker price 599$!!!
Sales person came to me and whispered: I can give you those just today for 399$
Ebay: buy it now 230-250$
Famous Park tool chain cleaner set: 69$
Ebay: from 10-20$
Bontrager Race X Lite Carbon Seatpost – 99$ on 50% sale from 199$
Ebay: 50$
Bontrager Race X Lite weelset: 499$
Many people like Zucks Sports guy, Glacier Canada and many more sells frames for 2250$ to 3500$
Ebay same frame: 550$

Is the poor paint job worth such a big difference?
A lot of Chinese shirts, bibs and pants all for 40-60$
Ebay: 5.99+10 = 15.99 shipped
http://cgi.ebay.com/Domina-Vacanze-Bicycle-Cycling-Short-Pants-XL-size_W0QQitemZ260563629295QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Men_s_Athletic_Apparel?hash=item3caacd74ef
GOPRO HD camera 349-370$
Ebay: 249$
I’m not going to mention 120-130 lumens LED lights for 200-350$
You can get 900 lumens Magicshine for 90$ from US seller
http://cgi.ebay.com/MagicShine-P7-LED-Bike-Light-Mountain-Bike-Special_W0QQitemZ280431802159QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item414b09b72f
All pissed at those ridicules prices I bought 15.99 degreaser + 25 for entrance/parking gave me most expensive Pedro's Oranj Peelz F@#@# degreaser ever: 40.99$
This whole bike show concept where you have to pay for entrance reminds me computer shows years back, where everybody was searching for a deal to buy floppy and HDs.
Total waste of time :crash::crash::crash:

Yeah, the last time I went was two years ago and the time before that was five years ago. I doubt that I will ever go again. It's just not worth the time, money spent and effort to do it.

Yes I remembered the $12 parking fee for last year... If I recall right they disabled the feature on the machine where you can choose to pay, say only 5 bucks, if you were only going to be there for 2 hours... it was a flat rate.
Luckily my brother was able to get Aksiums for $199.

I don't know about no deals there were a ton of bikes there last year at great prices and they are from shops so hey unlike e-bay if you have a problem you just take it in and get it fixed. Riding partner got an Opus 2008 Stacto full 7800DA Mavic Ksyriums for $2100 that is a good deal in my books! If you are mechainically inclined, go ahead take your chance on e-bay, craigslist whatever but if you need support good luck!
yikes, glad I saw this thread while still just considering.
Do you think I could get a good deal on a helmet tomorrow that's worth the $13 admission? I'm looking for a light, comfortable helmet that's not too obtrusive and is compatible with sunglasses...good for all seasons, in the winter I can wear my thin running toque underneath. Something around $50

After reading responses and analysis Let me add:
If you are woman, or partially woman, or have that small feminine part in you which will not let you touch grease, or have no mechanical skills but some how managed to learn how to ride the bike and you have strong feeling you need better bike than from Canadian Tire or Wall Mart, (I visit Costco and saw so sweet bikes that bike show will never beat with price) it will be worth to go, please go and buy stuff.
If you are average guy that was riding bike since 5-10 Y old, and searching for a deal, because everything else you can do it yourself, please give me 25$ we can have a nice ride\race and then I will take you for a beer, we can shoot **** and talk bikes all that time.
To the guy searching for light; if you are planning to do trails at night check that MagicShine on ebay.
I think the only reason to go there is to see how the guys race and practice.
Aksium for 199 good deal, but were they new? Which place did you get them, I visit all the vendors lowest demo not new was 299 (some spokes had paint missing, they were not worth 150$ in my books)
In regards demo bikes: Come on people Trek 2008 with old Ultegra/Shimano for 2350$ they look like they had more clicks than my car.
That Opus 2008 demo, did you asked how many people rode that bike on the Sunday group rides? Well I hope your partner will not have any problems with it. BTW Opus is made based on Taiwan frames that are 250-300 on ebay. Ksyriums if new are $$ but used, He just got used bike for 2100$ how much is new? 3100k?
Yes if you just want to pay and have bike, go those guys will help you in a heart beat, you will be happy and they can feed their families. All I’m saying all this stuff is overpriced to my taste, but I can change flat myself.

The Aksiums were new (2009 model) which were sold by Bikes on Bloor... it was a pretty good deal. I almost got a Fulcrum 1 wheelset myself but they only had the Campag cassette compatible version. I was going to be there today but had no energy left after the Donut Ride this morning. BTW, thanks for the info on the GoPro's HDs, I was thinking of going there solely to get another one but at the price you quoted (and confirmed by my brother who went there this morning) I'd rather get it from pointofviewcameras.ca for the same price but with no PST as the store is based in Vancouver.

I went in the fall. Lots of people buying but thinking they got a once in a lifetime deal. Any LBS will do the same off season. I won't be going again.

pointofviewcameras.ca have it for 424$ CAD http://pointofviewcameras.ca/gopro-hd-motorsports-hero-megapack.html
you can get it on ebay for over well 120 less.
That is stagne Wheels of Bloor guy told me 299$ for Aksiums, young kid was standing in front of the wheels. Which is still too much, 199 was a deal, which I have hard time to belive as I wisit them twice and asked about price of different sets. I will be ordering GO PRo HD this week. Maybe I will see you on Donat Ride :) still to cold for me, just got our from some nastu flu.

The $424 from pointofviewcameras.ca is the Motorsport mega-pack bundle, you want the Helmet version of this bundle not the Motorsport bundle. The Helmet bundle ($419) includes these following extras (in addition to the helmet mounting gear): an extra Li-Ion rechargeable battery, a 16 GB SDHC Card, handlebar mount, a tripod mount, a wall charger, and a few other accessories. I thought it was a good deal when I got it last December. I am thinking of getting a second HD (GoPro HD Naked at pointofviewcameras.ca... $299 CAD) to replace the old GoPRO Wide that I have which I am now using as the rear facing camera mounted on the seatpost. The GoPro HD is much better than the GoPro Wide video quality wise.

I agree with the expensive parking and admission.
This was our first time there and we thought it was a neat offering. Little did I know that I bought a piece of garbage and would have to warranty.
I purchased a carbon stem and bar for far below retail, and realized that the stem had a crack in the clear coat. I called the Trek store, who's booth I bought the item at and they said that I could warranty it at ANY Trek dealer.
I should have known that this would make my LBS unhappy. However, they are good sports and are helping me out HUGE!
I also understand that it is buyer beware, but the assumption is made when the shop claims a product to be new it will be in good working order.
What a joke and a hassle, lesson learned!

There are plenty of women who are very competent mechanics, and plenty of men who prefer not to get their hands dirty.
Shame on you for writing this f'n garbage.

I’m glad we both agree that some woman can do stuff around their bikes and will not find many deals on the show, and on the flip side plenty of man that are technically challenged. Which is pretty much exactly what I said. Peace brother.

You must think everyone is an idiot and have very little regard for the fairer sex. It was a brand new bike, the Opus that is of coarse it had been on test rides but nothing more than that. And yes I realize they are made in Tiawan and a lot of big named bikes are. I'm just playing devils advocate. I don't think we could have a beer together because it would likely be that almost as good as the real beer but cheaper. Believe it or not some will pay to have a name brand bike under them is it more money, sure is but don't say yur nuts to own one. You go have fun on your $300 frame I'm sure you could whip my butt on it as it's not about the bike right! And there are also some who have had fraud happen to themm and regrettfully I'm one of those and will never buy from on-line store/e-bay ever again. And yes I can change a flat, do whatever I want on my bike but if the shop I bought mine off of is willing to do the work for free I'd be stupid to pass it up.

I found this pretty offensive, too. Mods?
The suggestion that women are hopeless around tools, but that some may have managed to learn to ride a bike somehow anyways has no place here.
And Sebo, even though I'm a girl, I would have ridden my bike to the show. And if I got a flat on the way, I'd be able to change it, usually without even needing the tire levers (but not because I don't know how to use tools)

Former Torontonian here.
Anyone who freaking drives to the TO Bike Show for the sole purpose of shopping for swag is seriously missing the point.
I'm not surprised at his level of disappointment (distributed over several threads, it seems). Holy man...

No, that's not actually what you said. You said women, or those with a "small feminine part" won't touch grease. Silly generalization, and you're surprised that some of us get offended. They you say "peace, brother", without thinking that some of us are actually sisters, and that you might offend us all over again, or at least make us sigh at yet another dopey male.
Having said that I see my admission to the bike show as a way to drool over the new models, look at the trends from the manufacturers and see which touring companies are offering what. Sometimes I even buy something.

Ok SISTER, are you one of those sisters that asked for Canadian national anthem to be changed over word Sons?
"Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command."
I said “brother” as a direct response to the person with avatar showing man, if that was a woman wearing moustache I’m sorry I didn’t recognize it. Pleas accept my sincere apology.
So If you wear moustache and love to roll over in grease and you look more manly than me, I’m sorry again, I have generalized that part of our better half’s.

Didn't go this year, last year was fun to watch Ryan Leech do his routine... if you are looking to buy a bicycle later on it is a good way to save investigation/travel time about who has what in stock and to see various bicycles in person.
Deals are well... Canadian LBS "deals". Can't do much about that.
I often go to boat shows and car shows, pay an admission and parking and don't buy a thing. I just dont feel a need to rant about it afterwards. Nor do I feel I got ripped off.:innocent:

You probably also don't feel the need to make grossly inappropriate & irrelevant sexist statements...
