Living Car Free - Oakland Bus Fight

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
No wonder so many of you are loath to ride American buses!

Wow that is one bad old man, he won't be someones victim.
Old news, but I would say it's more punk vs guy that doesn't take guff. Not white vs black.

I'm sure this isn't typical of the buses in America. I've only taken the bus in New York city and had no problems or complaints at all.
The guy with the white beard is named, Thomas (Tommy Slick) Bruso.
He and his buddy were headed up to San Francisco for some weed for their arthritis.
Youtube has a bunch of follow up interview videos.

Two stupid angry men meet on a bus.
According to this the kid deserved every bit of this, if the old guy is telling the truth:

This footage is lame. I am so tired of people messing with one another over WORDS. I am tired of bus drivers not stopping busses early enough to stop flying fists or punches. Lastly, I am tired of people and the youtube madness. When will it ever stop?

If I were a driver, I don't think I'd want to get involved in fisticuffs. Calling the cops sounds like a better option to me.

From what I've observed, Little Rock buses are a bit friendlier than that.

True, but there are fights in bars, hospitals, stores, schools, even churches. Anywhere that people can go, there can be a fight. Are we supposed to not go anywhere?

Yes, of course. I made that comment with tongue in cheek. I'm actually a big supporter of mass transit. I rode buses for years in the States and for the past twenty years have ridden trains and buses here in Spain (I put my bike up on the trains--great combination), and I can't remember ever seeing a fight.

We are a selfish and proud (for no other reason then we are breathing and born in America) people here in the US of A.
I have yet to find a good reason to fight anyone other then to defend myself, innocent people and my family.
This case had everything to do with intoxication. I like that the older guy stood up for himself, but still had the smarts to know when to let things go.
He did walk away.
I do agree, get enough undisciplined (majority of young folks in the US today) people into a small space and two are bound to fight over what is actually NOTHING.
I say good times. :)

It's the era of the reality show and YouTube: Everybody has to stretch out their 15 minutes.

Very true.. I've had a similar experience, but it was an L.A. bus... Better than an experience I once had on an interstate Greyhound bus.. Once in the middle of the night on a 1000 mile journey some guy got out his revolver and started checking out the contents of the barrel.. Everyone else was asleep.. I stayed calm with one eye slightly open.. He put it back into his bag without incident.. No one else knew the difference.. I did not fall asleep until the Dude got off the bus in Tennessee.
