Today in the library, I was shocked to discover that Road & Track magazine was doing a road test on pedicabs? Could they be seeing the light? Could they be getting a glimmer of things to come?

Pedicab Road Test (http://www.roadandtrack.com/special_feature/main-street-pedicab)

But then I remembered that it was their April issue. But it's a cool article anyway.

Drag races… laps around the block… it doesn’t matter as long as the insatiable craving for moderately disappointing speed is satisfied.

Nice find.

Don't miss the technical data sheet in the "Data Panel" section of the article:

ENGINE
Type/layout human, 1 head, 4 heart valves, 2 prehensile thumbs, some issues, 1 possibly immortal soul, some ability to distinguish right from wrong after sex drive wanes
Valvetrain variable cam timing controlled by frontal lobe
Displacement larger than any cabin-class airline seat
Compression ratio na
Horsepower imagine a small Shetland with swine flu
Bhp/liter A liter of what? It all depends if the 7/11 guy asks for your ID
Torque bodacious
Redline/limiter 90 rpm on a good day/EPO level in bloodstream
Fuel injection plastic "spork" and straw
Recommended fuel a nice healthy lunch like your mom would have fixed instead of that junk you and your friends are always eating

Yep standard April fare for R&T. You ought to check out some of the back issues, mainly the April ones.

Aaron :)

Think they'll get into drifting those pedicabs? ;)

Pedicabs look to me al little like the old war chariots, but with a bike rider up front instead of four horses. I'd love to see the president of the NRA standing in the back of a pedicab, whipping on the rider in front! :D

I dunno about drifting, but I can tell you that drafting a pedicab sure is something. Man they throw a heluva draft.

from my experience (short lived) as a pedicab driver there's no way to get that thing to drift hahaha. But those thing weigh a TON.

R&T's previous April road tests have included a Pontiac-sponsored hot air balloon, the transporter that carries the Space Shuttle to its launch pad, a steam locomotive, and a four-lackey sedan chair. Fun stuff.
