Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello--

I'm recruiting riders for this year's Tour de Farms MS 150 June 12-13, 2010 in DeKalb, IL (65 mi. west of Chicago). It has ride options of 35 to 175 miles, so pretty much anyone can participate. There are frequent, well stocked rest stops, and support vans and motorcycles on the course if you need them.

There are meals, entertainment and festivities throughout the weekend. I imagine the party the night of the 12th is about as much fun as you can stand, facing a 75 mile ride the next day! Goose Island is in charge of the beer tent. A number of hotels in the area are providing discounted rates for riders, and if your budget is tight, rooms are available in NIU's dorms.

Anyone age 12 and up can participate. There is a registration fee of $50, and you do have to raise $300 for the MS Society, but they (and I) give you a lot of support with that.

Shoot me a PM, or respond in the thread, and I'll get back to you.

Mike

I'm pretty sure I'm doing it. I'm actually thinking of it as an (expensive) training ride for the Chicago AIDS Ride. And, as I live in DeKalb, the commute isn't difficult ;)

Glad to hear it. PM me for a code to save $10 on registration--that will help a little. I hope to see you there.
