Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Chuck's bullhorns are a thumbs up

I don't work for or have anything to do with Chuck's bikes other than being a customer but I thought I would let everyone know that the bullhorns from Chuck's are pretty good. They are great for $10.

I got mine shipped with white tape for less than $20. Hard to beat that price. Here are a couple of pics of my new bars and tape.

They have a little more drop than I would like but overall, thumb's up.

do these bars have grooves in them for brake cables? or is it nice and round throughout?

They have holes for internal cable routing.

How does your brake work w/ that tight angle at the brake hood?

They made me read it in high school. Probably a good thing that I did (you can never read too much unless it's about stash pockets, right?) but I never felt the need to own a copy or read it again.

A good book like that would be "Shackleton's Boat Journey", "Endurance, Shackleton's Incredible Voyage", or "My life with the Eskimo-Vilhjalmur Stefansson

actually - if my bars are bare - I can sometimes make cool whistling noises with these holes if I grip the bars just right.

Met some people on the trip and the author of the conflicting book The Climb, Gary DeWalt when I lived in Santa Fe. THat whole thing blew up into such a huge f-ing deal. I think your description of the event was sufficient. Didn't need two books on the subject or however many there are.

Yeah, well, I'm a reader with broad interests. I have the fountainhead on another shelf. Probably next to the communist manifesto :-) (no, I don't really own the communist manifesto, but I have read it.)

The brake lever is a little stiff, but it works fine. I haven't had any problems with it yet. It's a new cable and housing, so maybe it works pretty well even if it has tight angles?

It's a rental house, so I will let the landlord take care of it if he has a problem. Does look a little gross but it kind of makes it homey. (?)

Pedal upgrade, why? This is my commuter. I like having the straps and can't use clipless because I don't plan to carry a change of shoes with me. I've got look pedals on my multispeed road bike but don't want them here. What kind of pedals do you use and why?

ahh thats ok then. Didnt realise it was a commuter. :P i use boring platforms for my 3.4k each way to school :D
