We're not signed up yet, but we're planning to take the plunge after chatting with the reps at the praised/maligned Toronto bike show yesterday.

We were planning to do the Toronto-MTL rally for People With Aids, but were a bit nervous about the fundraising duties and had some communication trouble at work with regards to joining my employer's team. So, more days, more distance, more fun!

We're trying to work out the logistics of pressing on for 1 more day to MTL to see family & friends there for a while before taking the train back to Toronto.

My wife picked up a leftover Trek 1.2 that she'll be riding, and I'm going to do it on my Jamis Sputnik.

Should be fun, we're getting really stoked! Who else is in?

Do you have a link for this ride? I am new to the GTA (Burlington) and this sounds interesting.

Cheers,

Brian J.

Great route! We rode from Kingston to Cornwall couple of years ago, what a gorgeous area. Especially the area you will be on day 7. Loved that trip, St. Lawrence is really beautiful. And PEC is great too, of course.

Yeah, we're really excited. My wife has been practicing/riding/bonding with her new 1.2 and loves it - it's her first road bike and first time riding with clipless pedals and dedicated cycling shoes so it's like a whole new world for her. We're both really eager to hit the trail this summer!

I think we're as excited about doing a bunch of weekend training rides together and getting into shape as we are the adventure of the ride itself.

Hope she get used to clipless pedals quickly. I had a few close calls when I first got mine, forgot I was clipped in! Ouch!

You probably know about it, but there are some great training routes on Friends for Bike Rally website: http://www.bikerally.org/index.php/training-ride-maps.html

Yup, thanks.

Hell, I've been riding clipless for over 5 years but still managed to lose my balance, fail to clip out, and fall on my ass on one of my first rides out this spring. :)

I've ridden the GWTA the last two years. It is an awsome trip. Great route - great people.

There's abit of off road stuff around Darlington. I rode a MTB so I loved it but some of the people on road bikes were kingd of groaning through that part.

OK, this was awesome. Some details/pics to follow, but the short story is that if you can get to this ride, you gotta do it! :)
