I broke the frame on my S-Works M4 Road bile last week. Since the model is no longer made, Specialized sent me an 04 E5 S-Works (I was hoping for the Tarmac, but the E5 is fair enough :-) Anyway, they shipped the E5 with 2 sets of forks and no istructions, so I'm left wondering which fork to install.
One fork has a carbon finish and is marked "Specialized advanced carbon composite" on the outside and "S-works" on the inside of the legs.
The other fork, which has a gloss finish is marked "Specialized Carbon4" on the outside of the legs.
Both seem to have the same profile, length, and rake.
The only indication that they are not functionally identical is the fact that if you play them like a tuning fork, the s-works fork makes a lower pitch sound and doesn't seem to vibrate as long. I wonder if it doesn't have similar vibration dampers to the Roubaix?
Is anyone familiar enough with these forks to tell me which to use, or will I need to contact Specialized for guidance?
