Touring - big fat sleeping bag for big fat dude

Hey,

Does anyone have any sleeping bag reccomendations for a guy who weighs 260-275? I'm 6'4" as well. I have a Eureka Silver City long mummy bag which is really small and works well for touring, but I feel like I have to cram myself into it each time I use it. Is there something that packs small but is really roomy?

Let me know what you guys think.

Take a look at the Park series of bags from Big Agnes, they are all designed for a 25" wide x 78" long sleeping pad.

I have a Marmot Sawtooth bag in the +15 Xtra long Xtra wide version. It's supposed to fit up to 6'6" (same as the long version) but has a shoulder girth of 70" and a hip width of 66" I'm a big dude, and I don't feel cramped in it. It packs to about 7.5x16" according to REI, but I think you could go smaller with a compression bag. It does weigh about 3.5 pounds though, which isn't super light. I haven't used it in weather close to 15 degrees though, so I can't comment on the accuracy of the rating.

I don't have any personal experience with the Campmor Goose Down Rectangular Sleeping Bag (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___40071), but it is 32 inches wide, rated for 0 degrees and weighs 3 lbs 12 oz.

Big Agnes seem to have good products, this one is for big and tall.

Big Agnes also sells a zip in wedge that expands the size of its bags slightly. I have one of their semi rectangular bags as I can't tolerate mummy bags.

I use a Northface Goliath bag, fit well enough when I was 250lbs. I'm also 6'8". I'd like it to be a couple inches longer, but it does fit.

If you don't mind the expense, Feathered Friends (http://www.featheredfriends.com/) makes high quality down bags. They will also make them wider and longer if you want. Kind of nice that they will do that for every bag in their line. But like I said, they are a bit more expensive, but that is usually the case for high quality custom handmade products. Check out the Wren bags for cool features for touring.

+1 for the Feathered Friends bags. You get what you pay for.....
