I was looking around my LBS and i see this bike with only one side of the fork going to the wheel...(its kinda hard to explain and i was looking for pic's but couldnt find any).its like there is only one beefed up shock on one side only...if you can understand what im failing at describing, whats the use of this one sided fork?

Technically, thats a strut, not a fork. Chances are, you were looking at the cannondale lefty.

It works just like any other fork on the market. The idea left was designed to be lighter and stronger then a traditional fork. I'm not sure that is the case, but they seem to work and hold up just fine.
