Looking for a trailhead to use while exploring the Whittier Narrows area bike trails. Legg Lakes appears to be an option, but can't find much on the web. Fee park?
Any Class 1 connections from the lakes to the Rio Hondo and/or the San Gabriel River Trail?
I do not play well with cars.
Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Kinda funny, the ad right next to your post is for google maps with biking directions.
Look at some of the recent posts here about SGRT and Rio Hondo connections.
Between these two is about 300 yards or road along san Gabriel Blvd (Lincoln to Rosemead) , the rest all Class 1 trail.
I don't the area well myself, but it looks like there is a trail from a parking lot on Durfee next to the lake to the SGRT. Don't know if the park charges, but I would assume so.
Most of the regulars on SGRT can probably give you could parking suggestions.

And I gave it a try. That is going to be a handy feature in GM.
It showed a connection from a lower parking lot down to the SGRT. In GE it looks like a paved bike trail.
I gave it another try down in Newport Beach and it took me down a maze of streets when there is a bike trail about 500' from my door leading to the San Diego Creek Trail, so ... beta time.
there are several places you can park... you can go up san gabriel blvd and make a left on lincoln... up the hill there's an entrance to the RHRT on top of the dam...
you can park for free at legg lake to hit the SGRT... if you want to check out the northern part of the RHRT you can park on top of lincoln ride down north from the dam and cross san gabriel blvd to enter the northern trail...
or... let me see...
on rosemead make a left on rush and there's a parking lot on loma st... i've seen some guys park there too and go up northing... but it's kind of crazy there... somewhat shady...
i'm up that way at least 3 times a week... with domo hanging off my back pack... lol...
be careful...

Did a Legg Lake driveby on Sat. on way home.
One lot appeared free and two others had ticket takers - and why is this thing underlining?
The access to the SGRT had a closed gate. Did not stop to shake it. Will need some time there to sort it out.
we wrode yesterday from my house to lower azuza blvd passing the el monte airport... the gate wasn't closed... the gate looks closed, but it has a smaller gap/gate that's always open...
i'll take pictures next time i hit the spot...
