I am considering to buy this Fuji All Terrain bike and I was hoping that some of you who are experienced can tell me whether the price is fair or whether I should try to bring down the price.

If the bike is worth $135 to you, go for it.
To me, it's a $50 bike.

not sure about the price. the style of bike is a bit slower than a traditional rode bike. I would think this bike would be good for 5 miles and under one way.

I also think it's a big jump going from no bike and not biking to bike commuting.

Price is ok, but think the bike may be wrong for commuting. You may want to look at a hybrid with a little smaller tires. I am currently commuting around 10 miles each way on such a bike and it is not fun....thus I am up on the forum looking for a better bike.

can you tell us about your proposed commute?

btw: I started with an MTB; moved on to a hybrid, but then discovered a road bike suited me better. I eventually roadified my hybrid with high pressure narrow slick tires, a road saddle and drop style handle bars. It's very comfortable and has a triple crank for the hills.

most old style 10-speed type bikes make great commuters. you'll have to figure out your size and do some test rides. when buying a used bike be patient. sometimes it takes a few weeks to find something suitable. $20 - $150 is a good price of a decent old bike in good condition.

when shoping on craigslist - look in neighboring cities and states even. don't be afraid to drive 30-60 minutes to look at a bike. some people will deliver a bike they are selling.

this bike could be perfect for you - or maybe not. the price is not outrageous
