I just got a cateye Mitty 8 Cyclecomputer, and I ride a 650x23 tire. The only settings for a 650 was x35 or x38. Will my speed and distance be incorrect with either of these two settings?

Yes, it will be off. You need an accurate measurement. I have the exact same computer. You can measure the circumference yourself in centimeters and enter it manually.
