I'm needing a good route from Quincy, Il. to somewhere in the northwest corner of Missouri. I'll be crossing into southern Nebraska and working my way over to Colorado. There doesn't seem to be a good or safe way of crossing the river at Quincy. My brother lives in Quincy and suggests riding on up to Keokuk and cross there but I wanted to try and cut down on the miles some other way if possible.

Any one ride this route? Thanks for your help.

Those two one-way bridges that cross the Mississippi at Quincy are both very narrow and very busy most of the time. Not one of my more pleasant memories. I'm sure you must have your reasons but why not just have your brother drive you across the river and start on the Missouri side??

If need be that's what I'll do. I'm really needing to map out a decent route across the state.

I do believe there's still a ferry at Meyer, IL that goes over to Canton, MO. I could be wrong though.
