Mountain Biking - se stout or dawes deadeye

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

ok, so i'm about to pull the trigger on either a se stout or a dawes deadeye. both are sold by bikesdirect The deadeye is 80 dollars cheaper, but i'm not sure about the quality of the frame and components compared with the stout. can someone give me advice based on experience or hearsay? thanks.
P.S. i'm using the bikes for mostly mountain biking and some commuting

Well, they have the same geometry, and nearly the same exact build kit (different rims on the Dawes) so there isn't a ton of difference. I'd bet even the differently logoed bits on each bike are the same damn parts, just with differing logos and cosmetics.
May as well get the cheaper one. IMO, they are both going to ride the same - probably like a brick. They are cheap frames, built up with cheap parts. Buy it, ride it, enjoy it.
That said, get the most bike your budget will allow.
