Are there any Dutch cyclists here or people with experience riding in Holland?

I have this vision of the Netherlands being a paradise in terms of cyclists rights and cycle lanes. I'd love to go somewhere I could just cruise on the relative flat for a couple days and not worry about traffice etc.

Ideally I'd like to have a base in one spot and cycle a 100kms in one direction one day and then do the same in another direction the next day. I want to ride from one location so I don't have to carry my stuff with me when cycling. Maybe just rent a road bike for 2 days instead of bringing my own.

Any help or advice on this?

To avoid hills, stay towards the coast. Limburg, in the south, is beautiful, and my favourite destination for a weekend, but has rolling hills.
Good bikes can be rented almost anywhere. Google fiets verhuur for locations and info.

At most of the numbered intersections, you can find a posted map of the area and nearby numbered intersections. Paper versions available from Tourist info.

Do your trip by the end of April for the best flower field displays around Leiden and Alkmaar.
The Wadden islands in the north, especially Terschelling, are very scenic and quiet, with good riding.

I go over there and cycle. The trick is to remember that bicycle theft is a national hobby, as is a degree of civil disobedience. Bikes go everywhere, on pavements, roads, and there are two large cyclists rights organisations. It's all reasonably civilized, and reasonably flat.

Incredible... it is not idiot, it seems TRUE! I looked for few minutes and more than one motorbike / car did not stop in that pedestrian crossing and went fast, avoiding pedestrian and bicycles only by abrupt steerings...
