Introductions - Western Washington!!(raining)

Hiya! I'm a new forum member, located in Western Washington (where, of course, it's raining right now!) Hoping to get more involved in this community. I've been a life-long biker, touring. Hope I can learn alot from all those here.

I'm in rainy Seattle--trying to find new rain gear for the upcoming deluge.

Welcome to the forums! I was raised on Vashon Island, I can appreciate how wet it stays! I moved 30 years ago and have only occasionally visited.

To be honest, this rain is rather welcome after having nearly a month of high heat and no rain.

im right there with you im in lakewood wa looking for fenders for my new bike in wa you have to ride in the wet weather otherwise you'd only be able to ride a couple of months out of the year the only weather i dont ride in is the ice

Fond memories of Western Washington. Lived in Spokane for one summer in 1974, but travelled a bit to Bellingham, biked around Olympic penninsula that summer. I still ride that same bike, a 73 Motobecane Grand Record. Once I threatened to restore and sell it, and my son said I could never part with it. He's right.

Thanks for the welcoming replies. To be honest, I'm a fair-weather biker. I hate getting mudded by cars going by, and I'm reluctant to put fenders on my '83 vintage Schwinn Le Tour Luxe (it's heavy enough without them).

My longest ride was STP in 2001. In the mid-'80s I lived on Alki and rode to work frequently to downtown Seattle (it took only 5 minutes longer than the bus). After getting married, I bought the hubby a Raleigh Technium to ride along with me, but anything over about 10 miles is too taxing for his behind (even with the cushy seat covers). Then the kids....

Anyway, looking to do more recreational riding. While training for STP, I enjoyed the Green River Trail all the way up from Algona, then linking up with the Alki route, and going all the way to Lincoln Park. Flat lands are good.

Cheap plastic fenders are less than a pound total.

Welcome to the forums! I was born and raised in Bellingham. Now live in Ohio. Ah yes! The pains of a DF bike. I'm now 'bent and loving it.

Lived on whidbey island and commuted by bus/ferry/bike daily for almost 5 years. There were 3 or 4 of us going the same route.

Snow, rain, ice, you name it. It was wonderful! Get a good rain suit, some booties for your feet a headband and a good helmet.

Of course now I live in central valley of california where it hasn't rained since march.. uh, hey! need a good REI rainsuit ;)
