I tried a taste of guinness after a hard ride, read in Bicycling mag how good it was health wise, but I decided here in central bluegrass of KY Horsefarms, I'd rather catch a stallion whilst pissing but can't figure out how to get it cold fast. (I hear it only tastes good when fresh - spoils quickly). This years derby winner is on 3 chimneys horse farm, only a half mile from were I write this.
Sierra Nevada. Excellent beers: Pale Ale, Porter, Stout... all tasty. Not only does the beer taste good, they sponsor a top-notch Division III cycling team.

I'm really grooving on Berghoff Dark right now. Just finished the last of the 12 that I bought yesterday. Mostly, though, I tend to stick to Killians or Guinness.
I have three favourites and I consider all in different categories.
Guinness
Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout
Redhook (Nitro Porter and Nutbrown are my favourites)
But in the end, I've only found one of the three that actually sells jerseys...

Yeah, I've been there... not recently though. But I haven't seen a Guinness cycling jersey yet. I'd love one if it were available.

Specify which micro? Crap man every town within 500miles of here has a brewery and the bigger ones have a couple, plus several pubs that brew their own, homebrewers are not uncommon around here either, and we have plenty of importers too.
I think it's the cool cloudy depressing weather and proximity to a major hop growing area(they grow wild behind the local park, it was a hop farm 100 years ago)- espresso and beer on every corner.
My favorites:
Paulaner; Salvtor; dopple bock
Ayinger; Oktober fest-marzen
Deschutes; Obsidian stout; Way different than Guinness, I think it might be a sweet stout, tastes like esspresso
Alaskan; oatmeal stout
Alaskan; smoked porter
Snoqualmie Falls; Wildcat; india pale ale
Most american style Brown ales; Petes wicked, Moose drool, my homebrew(people offered me full retail price for it, I said ok, now its gone :()
Maritime Pacific; Jolly Roger; Christmas Ale/english old/strong ale
Stone; Double Bastard; barley wine (big bro to Arrogant Bastard old ale)
Hales; Cream ale; A light brew, nitro charged like a draught Guinness for a very smooth creamy texture and taste.
Steel Reserve 211; high gravity silver label; for when you want to get screwed quik and cheap, yet it tastes ok, unlike most malt liquor.(I don't drink 211 but all my mates do and they like it. I did try one.)
Yeah, I've been there... not recently though. But I haven't seen a Guinness cycling jersey yet. I'd love one if it were available.
I have a Feldschlossen cycling jersey! That's the Swiss stuff.
Why not play rugby, Guinness have rugby jersesys and baseball caps. :)
Killian's Red is my beer of choice.
Schlafly, Guiness, and Pete's Wicked Ale (in that order) are my other favorites.
Honestly though, I'll drink just about any kind of beer and enjoy it. Can't say the same for wine or hard liquor.

I like shiner bock but its the only single bock at my local stores so I can't really compair it to anything, salvator dopplebock from paulaner beats it easily but that may be due to the dopple single style difference.

I find it interesting that miller and corona have not been voted for yet.
Miller uses a hop extract that somehow doesn't go skunk under sun/flourescent lights(all naturally hopped beers do, thats why brown glass is used) and corona is made as cheap as possible for poor laborers south o da border. Both true facts.
Err...I'm thirteen..Um...?Thought this was the Men's forum.

Newcastle would have been my vote, but it wasn't there, so PBR...

sorry fellas - gotta go PBR on this. $2 pints - need I say more?
Although for designer beers, the following:
Recent addition - Three Floyds Gumball
Mmmm...never deny the Porter - Just about any porter (sorry Sierra Nevada - you can kiss my ass)
Ole Standby in EU - Guinness, as in across the pond. Not imported. Yes - I am a snob.

My favorites are made by Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Their seasonal oatmeal stout is fantastic. Sadly, I moved south and can't get any of their beers now.
Beer, scotch, gin, wine...whatever it is, I'll drink it :D
Grolsch or Black Label if I go to the liquor store; Summit or PBR if I'm at the bar.
Newcastle would have been my vote, but it wasn't there, so PBR...
I agree: Newcastle! Nothing else gets voted on by me.

Mexican beer sucks :)
Okay, young feller. While Corona is the Mexican equivalent of Coors (overrated and flavorless), it is clear to me that you have never had a Negra Modelo which is both Mexican and yummy.
I had a bottle of LaBatt's Blue yesterday after a long ride. It's drinkable but undistinguished.
A while back I had a bottle of Chimay Trappist Ale that I picked up at Trader Joe's. If you like Belgian beer, this one is good and you have to love the bottle with the wired-on cork.
If Harp lager was on the list, I'd have voted. World class lager. And Blue Moon Belgian White Ale, though a Coors product is a fine brew.
You should also include the various Leinenkugel's brews in your poll.
On yesterday's ride, the subject of beer was broached. A friend said she'd bought a 6 of Aldi's Beer. She was wondering how to get rid of the remaining 5.
This may be a good place to explain the rules of beer:
1. Life is too short to drink cheap beer.
2. Good beer does not come in a can--not even a fancy can like Sapporo or Foster's or Heineken. (I like Heineken, by the way, but not out of a can).
3. Good beer does not require the addition of fruit to make it drinkable.
4....Feel free to add to the rules.

though i love my sierra nevada and my redhook, i gotta say my fave beer anywhere is...
Cisco Brewer's Whale's Tail Pale Ale (http://www.ciscobrewers.com/whalestale.html)
Nice beer, if you can get it. And if you get that, I probably love you.
If Harp lager was on the list, I'd have voted. World class lager.
You are joking?
Harp is brewed by Guinness but that doesn't mean anything, its pi$$!!!
The best lager is without a doubt Super Bock from Portugal. Next comes San Miguel from Spain.
Guinness is for real people and should be drunk by the pint!!! in Dublin...
Red Stripe or Iron City beer out of Pittsburgh.
Grolsch is also pretty good

Favorite Beer? Can one have only one favorite beer? Depends so much on other influences. Primarily what's available, followed by where you are / what its like outside or how much money is in the pocket. On that last note, PBR is the hands down winner. On an enjoyment / price scale, PBR is the best beer in America. Plus, at parties, people tend to take others' beers first.
If not PBR, local brews summit (particularly IPA) and grain belt. If in PA, sure, Yuengling works great.
Best beer surprise: Fat Tire Sunshine Wheat. I tend to dislike wheat beers. But the FT sunshine is a fine fine beer. Their Loft also kicks ass.
