Hello, I've been lurking here for over a year and I thought it's about time I register. I took up cycling January 2003 for health and fitness, and shortly thereafter became a regular commuter and more than met my weight reduction goals. Now I ride because I love to. I put in 5,000 miles last year and am on track to do 5,500 miles this year.
Last year I didn't register because I was a little intimidated, what being a newbie and all. Since then I've been burned by searing summer heat, had my toes numbed from 35 deg F black mornings, lain awake nights from overtraining, felt the nausea of a bad bonk, and was stung by a bee that flew into my mouth. Not ot mention the daily dances with SUVs. Guess I've been initiated now.
I'm 45, ride a Jamis road bike and have the good fortune to ride in Sacramento – a cycling town with generally good weather. Ride safe,
jim
