hello,
i basically only want to go in one direction. Which do you think would be best? Elevation wise. Geneva to Amsterdam or the other way around? Has anyone done this trip before, an ideas on a scenic route?
thx
Since we always like to cycle from home I would suggest riding to Amsterdam. You can follow the Rhine from Basel (easy) or you can go through France and cycle up the Saone to Epinal than get on the Mosel to Thionville than Luxembourg than make your way through the Ardeness to Maastricht from there continue north heading to Amsterdam (much more scenic but difficult).

It's also nice to arrive home by bike! Leaving from Amsterdam has the advantage of starting out relatively flat, and then gradually becoming hillier, and then mountainous. Your endurance will build as the terrain becomes more challenging.
But in either direction, it sounds like a nice trip!
