I purchased this device recently and the cycle computer was installed on my bike sucessfully. However, when I loaded the software onto my PC (which is a new one this year) it demands a USB device or driver that I don't seem to have. The software will not run.
I called Mavic (in the USA) after I got a support number from my dealer, as there is no way to contact Mavic directly. The rep was very nice, but he had no idea about the content of the software or how to get anything to make it run. He even sent me his personal copy of the executable file, which I installed with the same results. The software also locks up my OS and I had to do a "hard" restart on my PC to get out. He only knew how to synchonize the computer to the bike.
Does anyone know where I can get a reliable update for the USB driver that this product uses? Otherwise, I have spent a pile of money on a non-working product. This is extremely frustrating, especially because I can see the bike computer faithfully recording ride data that I can't download.
Thanks very much.
Mavic's website sure has a lot of purty pictures but they don't seem to want to help anyone. There is NO support available through their site.

1) What OS and version are you using (e.g. Windows 7 Professional, Windows Vista Home Premium, or whatever)?

2) Is it 64-bit or 32-bit?

I am using XP, 32 bit. Sorry, I wrote the post rather late last night. I kept XP because of some CAD software I use that had not been vetted with Windows 7.

Sounds like you might have to call Bill Gates. Too bad you don't have a Mac.

The software does not work on Apple systems. Not much that is technical does, really. What I need is a solution, not a joke, thanks.

I am certain there is someone out there with a sensible solution to my problem. My original request (if you actully read my post) is for a USB patch or update that is compatible with this software. I need one that is from a reliable source, not infected with malware or other problems. Please only reply to this post if you have something useful for me to use. Thanks. The issue is not whether or not I have a PC or a Mac.

Return it before it is too late. Get a Garmin if you want to download to a PC

Fixed.

SBH, I tend to agree with the return-it-and-get-something-else idea, but before throwing in the towel:

1) when trying to install this software (which presumably installs the USB drivers), are you logged on as an Administrator-level user?

2) if you want, send me the software installer and I'll try to extract the USB drivers from it and send them back. To send it, put the .exe file into a Zip file and email it to mechbgon gmail com.

Hi,
Thanks very much for your offer to help. I may send you my disk to see what can be done. I also will contact the place where I bought the computer to see if they have any ideas. The execuable is pretty big and it may not go through the mail, even zipped. It takes a whle to get it going, because I think it contains instructions in many languages. I will try emailing first tonight, when I'm home, and if that does not work, I will find another way. Please let me knw what you think best.

I am logged in as Administrator.

As for the bike computer, I really like the wireless interface and the instrument itself: Not too hard to set up, lightweight, easy to read, realistic output, etc. I don't feel like spending even more money on another product when I believe that I can get a fix for what I have.

Part of my irritation is that Mavic does not seem to want to provide support, thus putting their customers in the position of having to ask around in discussion groups. I have called Mavic and there did not seem to be anyone there who could answer software questions. They only could give me support on setting up the computer on the bike. The person I spoke with did not know why the software failed to perform correctly.
