Any suggestions for how and where to best mount a rear light (given that I have a milk crate) on the back of my bike?
Thanks!

A lot of racks have a rear lamp bracket just underneath the rear edge. If your rack has this bracket then use it. If you dont, there are a number of adapter clamps (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/taillights-bat.asp#racks)

I've had good luck with a combination of zip ties and tiny hose clamps

My wife has a Cateye tail light, model 610 [i think] with a long mounting strap and very flexible bracket.
Seems like that should be able to fit between the slots of a milk crate. This light is very bright and effective, it has 5 LEDs.

Those recommending zip ties for attaching lights to a milk crate have creamed this problem.

I mount my rear lights on my rack. sometimes I use an extra bit of metal strapping from the hardware store to get it clear of the rack and / or my trunk.

All right then, zip ties it is. That seems like it will also take care of my other concern which was someone stealing my light.
Thanks all!
I mount my rear lights on my rack.

Mounting the light to the rear rack is more secure and the light won't move or bounce like it could if mounted with zip ties to the milk crate.
