I applaud Google for making this effort. It's in the first stages now and has some flaws, but I'm sure this will be improved before long. One problem I found was that it mapped 100+ route though many gravel roads. Then again I also mapped a short ride I often take and it listed the nearly exact route I take to bike it.

I routed from chicago, il to galena, il. I found that there is a dirt/gravel road crossing a good part of illinois. :)
