I'm thinking about swapping out my Giant tcr frame for a TCX or a kona. I love my tcr but I do like getting muddy and going out on trails. I'd also like to get into some cx racing next season. I feel like I'm a bit limited on my tcr as far as variety of terrain goes.

I sold the Madone and replaced it with a Marin Cortina. Technically, this was a step down, but for enjoyment, a huge step up. I have 32 mm slicks on there and can cover anything I feel like on my rides. Yesterday, I did 52 miles, with 15 being up a rocky fire road up a mountain, and then a 40 minute descent on the road. It would not have been anywhere near as fun on any other kind of bike.

Can't blame you there. I've had road and CX bikes at the same time and while road riding, the road bike is more fun, I don't like being limited by surface. I ended selling my road bike(s) and have nothing but a CX bike. Like DG, I have 32mm tires on it and can go anywhere that I want. Minus single track but I can't ride those anyway.

Yeah, that's my main reason for wanting to switch it up is versatility.
