Northern California - Long-Term Road Bike Rental; East Bay

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey guys, so as a precursor: my own road bike project is being facilitated by a relative and he's quite a busy guy, and I'm still working out funding for the finishing pieces.
Here's the kicker: in 12 weeks, I'm heading to Grand Junction to embark on a 4-day, 240km tour of the famed Kokopelli Trail from Fruita to Moab. At the moment, I have a lot of work fitness-wise to do before I can even imagine completing the tour.
So, as a way for me to expedite my getting in to shape, does anybody know of a shop or a private vendor who can rent me a road bike for the long term (think like 1-1.5 months, roughly)? Any input and help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Try giving Livermore Cyclery a call.

Pegasus in Danville rents bikes. Three years ago I needed a road bike for a visiting friend, they were about the only ones around Lafayette you had road bikes for rent. We ended up with a very decent Scott that worked well for our virgin ride to the top of Diablo.
I remember talking to other stores that only had mountain bikes for rent, so you should have more choices.
Hmm. I'll have to call Livermore after school tomorrow. And Pegasus too. I don't know though, they list their road rentals as $50 a day. Eeek!

$50, that's what my friend paid for a 24h rental. They provide fitting and clipless pedals matching your own cleats if you have some.

You could ask about long-term discounts, but for that length of time I think you'd be best off looking for something used on craigslist or local swap meets and garage sales. If you can get a decent deal on a used bike you should be able to resell it for about the same price after a month or two.
Well, I suppose if when I give Livermore Cyclery a call this evening their rates are pretty large, I'll look into a used roadie.
Or if anybody has a 54cm I can borrow... :innocent: :roflmao2:
