Mountain Biking - fork problem...HELP !!!

Hi hope someone can help.I have just purchased a new G.T Rukas wich came with Dirt Jumper 3 Forks they ride great but they rattle quite a lot when on the rough, any sugestions what i could do? can this be adjusted , dont whant to have to change them, but have always had my bikes as quiete as possible and finding this hard to live with.

well all the dj series rattle a bit, its the dampening i believe, and i'm not sure if theres anything you can do about it, but eventually u get used to it and it quiets down a bit. btw congratualtions on the new bike, i've always liked the GT Ruckus

That's pretty normal for Marzocchi coil forks. You can try putting some rubber sleeving or similar around the coils, but it better be nice and thin - a guy at my LBS tried this with DJ2s and found inner tube was too thick...

Its not common for marz forks. Its common for marz forks with crap damping. No real way to fix it. You have no damping. You could put in heavier oil...that sometimes works, but changes the ride of your fork completely.

I'm not Marzocchi guru, but I think it depends on the cause. I've heard of a few folks with rattly DJs, mostly from the spring knocking around on the inside of the leg. If it's the cartridge knocking then I dunno, maybe tweaking the damping with heavier oil will help...

Could it be a loose headset?

my marz exr doesn't rattle... and i ride with guys who run dj1's 2's and 3's and i can't recall ever hearing any of theirs rattling.

Marz QC issues then? I dunno. My Z1 FR SL fork doesn't rattle either... :)

MAybe it's not as people have already said that thet's not unusual. Iono, maybe they're right maybe we are.

I have a DJ2, no rattles or strange sounds at all.. for anyone that cares though, you can't get a stiffer spring for the DJ2, so if your a heavyweight, might wanna look elsewhere

Manitou is coming out with a dj series. Lighter and likely cheaper. The firefly (I think there is a cheaper one too) is signifigantly better damping for similar price to the dj1 I believe. Rockshox...eh....I would take a gander at www.answerproducts.com and look around. The sherman line is unlike any manipoo (excluding dh specific) ever made. Solid and definately competitive :)
