Any of the three Treads shops - Englewood, Aurora, Parker.

None of those sounds very close to the botanical gardens, though.

The Performance shop where we got our bikes in May is in a strip mall on S. Colorado Blvd, which would be easy enough to bus or bike to from that area. (You'd probably want to bike to Colorado and take the 40 bus South to cross I-25) Depends how you feel about Performance, but they were good to us.

Pablo's at 6th and Washington is a good coffee shop, if you're into that. Most of the baristas were 2-wheelers of one sort or another when I was still living there a few months ago.

There's a bike shop on the corner of Lincoln & 7th called Turin. It's not close close to the Botanical Gardens, but it's relatively close...I believe it's about 10-12 blocks through mostly residential streets (if you avoid 6th or 8th).

I sort of assumed he would have a car.

Closest would probably be in Cherry Creek North Shopping area. Must be a good LBS there - just none comes to mind.

Turin would be my suggestion, too. Nice guys, good knowledge, and willing to help, too. Though a little out of your way, MOB Cyclery on 43rd and Tennyson is great. It would be a pleasant ride and they, too, would treat you right. Simple Foods is a great place to get a java and/or a bite to eat while you're in the area. There is also an R.E.I.
at the confluence of the Cherry Creek Bike Trail and The Platte River Trail (roughly at 15th and Platte St.) Check out My Brothers Bar while you're there- they have great burgers.

There is a bike shop in Cherry Creek North, but I don't know if it's a full bike shop though. It's actually a satellite location of Campus Cycle (washington@ evans). It's located near Clayton Lane in Cherry Creek North.

You might want to pick up a copy of the Denver Bike Map. It is $5 if you pick it up at the City Building. This is a very good resource for biking in the city of Denver, plus it shows the location of bike shops. I can't comment on the service as I haven't used the shops - but there are quite a few that have been around for a long, long time.

You can check out information about the map (and even view a pdf image) at http://198.202.202.66/dephome.asp?depid=598 .

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll probably check out Turin since it's probably the closest -- perhaps if I get a free weekend, I'll make it out to Wheatridge or one of the others.

See you on the road!
