Crash day plus one. I have just finished building my third fixie this year (the first two being very, very dead).
Earlier today I went and got a frame from Naz that he was awesome enough to give me. Got it home, started to work on it....couldn't get the BB out to save my life. It's going to take some different tools and a whole lot of penetrating oil to do. And so I'm sitting on the porch next to this frame, I look back and glance at the old Fuji frame I got from Panasoanic after my first bike died. I had more or less given up on that frame because of chainline issues, but thought I'd see if I could make it work. I built it up with all the components I had taken off the Marin frame after I got it home yesterday. Mostly, anyway. The Rock Shox Ruby has made a comeback. Eventually I'll need a 700c wheel up front (so it matches the back), but for now this old 27" wheel will do the job.
So yeah....like a phoenix, my fixie has risen from the ashes yet again. I've already gone through two bikes in the last five months. If this one dies an early death, I am swearing off cycling altogether. For a week or so anyway.
