I was just wondering if people could tell me the prices for JUST the frames of the new Treks I listed below. Somebody must know better than I will.

1. Madone SL 5.9 & SL 5.2 - Same frames just one has ultegra. 5.9-$5,499.99 MSRP/5.2 - $3,219.99 MSRP.
2. Madone 5.9 110 OCLV - $5,279.99 MSRP
3. Madone 5.2 120 OCLV - $2,999.99 MSRP

I JUST NEED TO KNOW IF PEOPLE KNOW THE FRAME PRICES. I am looking at a new race frame. And need some people who have or looked at Treks. Thanks.

Try checking out their project one design your own bike thing. It'll give you the choice between just a frame, and a full bike. I believe the Madone 5.9 was $2,999 for just the frame. I could be mistaken though. It would make sense though, once you put on the Dura-Ace components, the Bontrager Race lite X and XXX stuff, and you'll hit 5k soon enough. As for the Madone 5.2, I wouldn't know. The new 5.9 got a very minor redesign I guess, if you call it that. I saw no difference, but the site said it was redesigned. The SL 5.9 just has XXX lite stuff on it. That's the main diff. So all things considered I would guess that the Madone 5.9 frame would be 2,999 if that's what it was to begin with. The 5.2 frame should be about 2,400 then since it's OCLV 120. If you're looking at just frames, try C-dale. I like Treks a lot too, but I recently looked at some six13s at Eric's in Madison and those are cool. Very nice. I would look into something like that. Try Colnago too. Of course their you are paying for the name, but there's no denying those are sweet bikes. If you're going to lay down that kind of cash, why get something everyone else has? Everyone rides around on a Trek. I'm guilty myself. Next year I am looking into replacing my Trek 1000 with a high end bike even though it's new. I'm saving up over the entire year, it'll probably take two, but I'm looking at buying a $5000+ bike. Madones are nice, but so are C-Dales and Colnagos. I'm betting that's what you're lookin at too. Spending a large amount of money to get a "dream bike." Look around a bit. Sorry for adding my .02, but that's what forums are for right?

Yeah man thanks for the imput. On the Madone 5.2... The frame can't be $2,400. The bike itself costs $2,600. The Madone 5.2 frame is the 5200/5500 frame. If my memory serves me correctly the 5.2 frame is $1,600. Yes TONS and I MEAN TONS of people ride Trek. 1/2 because of the man and 1/2 of thier quality. I am just not a C-Dale man. Ridden em and just felt "ah" with them. I am eager to ride the 613. As far as Nalgo's go... I would be too scared to ride the bike where the paint would chip on a bike like that. Thanks for the .02 cents. Still looking for some trek info guys!

I thought the Madone 5.2 was basically the same frame as the Madone 5.9, but with Ultegra parts. That would explain the price. The base madone 5.9 frame and fork is $2,799.99 I got these prices from the base sets on Trek's Project One website. The 5500s frameset is $1,899.99 so I would guess that the Madone 5.2 is around that since it's the 120 OCLV, but it's the Madone design. That is their msrp though, so at a bike shop you might be able to get it for less. You might be able to get a deal on a 5900 SL from last year. As far as I've seen they aren't making them again this year. The 5900 SL is the same basic weight as the Madone 5.9, but the Madone is just a tad bit more aerodynamic. The framsets for the SL 5.9 should be the same as its counterpart because the SL just got some Bontrager XXX race lite parts instead of X race lite parts.

Ok. Now the big question is... Which one - '04 Madone or '04 5900.

Need some imput by people who have ridden both. I have ridden the Madone 5.9. That is not the most comfortable bicycle. I could get used to it but not when i ride 140 miles a week. Ok so who's ridden both and what do you have to say??

You've ridden a Trek 5200 right? I've test-ridden a 5500. I think the geometries on the 5200 and the 5900 SL are the same. I also believe the rides are pretty much the same. I haven't had a chance to jump on a Madone though. The 5900 SL was comfortable to me, but that's just me.
